Gymnema sylvestre for blood sugar: the ceiling on the bottle
Gymnema sylvestre for blood sugar was studied at 200 to 400 mg a day of extract, with robust trials still lacking. In Payarmin gymnema is the 8th of 22 blend lines, so one 1 mL serving holds at most 25 mg of it, and the label may mean far less.

What is gymnema sylvestre, and why is it linked to blood sugar?
Gymnema is a leafy vine whose extract is sold for sugar support, and it dulls the taste of sweetness.
A 2021 meta-analysis of 10 studies (419 people) found small drops in fasting glucose, but compared only with baseline and with very high variation between studies (Devangan et al., Phytother Res 2021).
That is a hint worth testing, not proof.
How much gymnema is in a Payarmin dose?
At most 25 mg per mL, and the label does not say it is that much.
The blend is 200 mg, listed most to least. Line k can weigh no more than 200 / k mg, and gymnema is line 8. An even split would be 9.09 mg.
| Reading | Per day | Share of 200 mg |
|---|---|---|
| Even split | 9.09 mg | 4.5% |
| Ceiling, 1 dropper | 25 mg | 12.5% |
| Ceiling, 2 droppers | 50 mg | 25% |
| Studied extract | 200-400 mg (Drugs.com, Gymnema monograph) | 100-200% |
Two-dropper rows assume a dropper holds 1 mL.
What cautions come with gymnema?
Gymnema can reduce the perception of sweetness, and one case of reversible liver injury was linked to gymnema tea (Drugs.com, Gymnema monograph).
Studied doses are far above the ceiling here, so the risk at 25 mg is not known either way.
Supplements with a glucose effect can add to diabetes drugs and cause lows (ADA, Vitamins & Supplements). Ask before combining.

See packsDoes Payarmin have enough gymnema to matter?
Even at its ceiling it holds an eighth of the lowest studied dose, so the label cannot show it matters.
25 mg is 12.5% of 200 mg. Read the gymnema page and the full ingredient list for the same math on other lines. The official checkout is the only listing we know of.

FAQ01
Gymnema: quick answers
Why does gymnema make sweet things taste flat?
Gymnema reduces how sweetness is perceived, which is one of its known effects (Drugs.com, Gymnema monograph). That is a taste effect and does not show a glucose effect. Payarmin also contains stevia and xylitol.
Is gymnema tea the same as gymnema extract?
Not the same. A reversible liver injury case was linked to gymnema tea (Drugs.com, Gymnema monograph), while trials used extracts standardized to 25% gymnemic acids. Payarmin lists gymnema in the blend without form or ratio.
Can gymnema replace diabetes medicine?
No. Evidence is small and compared only with baseline (Devangan et al., Phytother Res 2021). NCCIH says no herbal supplement has reliable evidence for controlling diabetes (NCCIH, Diabetes and Dietary Supplements). Keep your prescribed plan.
